COMMERCIAL — RENOVATION
Temporary Guest Entrance — Grand Hyatt, Washington DC
A covered entrance that kept guests dry and the arrival presentable while the main entrance was renovated — in place for about three weeks.
The Brief
The Grand Hyatt in Washington DC was renovating its main entrance. Guests still needed a way in — one that stayed dry and looked the part for a property of that standard, not a construction detour. The hotel needed a temporary covered entrance for the duration of the work.
The Approach
We covered the relocated entrance walkway with a clean, event-grade 10×20 frame tent. Because the entrance sits on hardscape, we anchored with weighted ballast rather than stakes — nothing penetrated the deck. Sidewalls blocked wind-driven rain and lighting kept the path bright for arriving guests, and the install was phased around the hotel's operations so a guest path stayed open throughout.
The Outcome
For about three weeks, guests arrived through a dry, well-lit, presentable entrance while the main one was rebuilt — and the tent read as intentional rather than temporary. It's a textbook example of the commercial work we do: a small, appearance-sensitive structure, installed fast and rented for the length of a project, exactly where the big industrial tent companies don't fit.
